My work has moved from asking whether copyright is the right framework for GenAI output to a broader set of questions about ownership, particularly asking how it is distributed, perceived, and governed across human, AI-assisted, and AI-generated creative work. I am supervised by Asia Biega in the Responsible Computing group at MPI-SP.
I started out in computer science, then spent several years in IP law, technology policy, and platform-economy research before this PhD, which brings it all together. Along the way, I’ve prosecuted IP matters for 150+ clients, advised the Ministry of Labour and Employment during India’s G20 presidency in 2023, and took part in a Parliamentary deposition on algorithmic control and data privacy in the gig economy. These experiences are part of how I think about GenAI governance now. It’s not just a doctrinal question for me, but one with real consequences for the people and industries it touches.
Outside of techno-legal rabbit holes, my interests range from gym sessions, kickboxing, swimming, and hiking to knitting and crocheting. In other words, I can throw a punch, willingly exhaust myself in several different ways, and make cute, flowery coasters. I also like to read and listen to all kinds of music because apparently having too many hobbies is a hobby in itself.
